This project is proposed for a pop up exhibit about a Cantonese opera show complemented by a documentary of the same name. The objective is to showcase that Cantonese opera in Vancouver is transnational, alive, and innovative, representing a cultural fusion.
The challenge is to develop the concept of "Fluidity" in Cantonese opera through both the graphics and structure of the exhibit. The primary audience consists of Chinese Canadians aged 50 and above, primarily women who love Cantonese opera, and anyone interested in Asian Canadian heritage. The secondary audience includes individuals aged 25-45, educated, and interested in art and culture.
The concept of fluidity is expressed through organic sweeping curves in the table structure, the flowing movement of water sleeve patterns, and a gradient of colors in the graphics. The color choice aligns with the brand and symbolizes water, reflecting the global spread of Cantonese opera via waterways.
